West Liberty Women Finalize Hoop Slate

WEST LIBERTY — The West Liberty University women’s basketball team has finalized its 2022-23 schedule. The Hilltoppers will be inside the ASRC 13 times over a 28-game regular season.

Coach Kyle Cooper’s team will tip off the season in the MEC/PSAC Challenge hosted by Charleston.

The Black-and-Gold are set to play California (Pa.) in the opener on Friday, Nov. 11 and then Mercyhurst the following day.

A midweek contest at Ohio Dominican will set the ‘Toppers up for a six-game Mountain East Conference stretch before the new year. Once again the MEC will operate regular-season play with a home-and-home series versus each conference opponent.

Alderson Broaddus is first on the docket for West Liberty on Nov. 19 in Philippi. After four games on the road to start the season, the Hilltoppers will open their home schedule on Nov. 22 against Notre Dame (Ohio).

Before the calendar turns, WLU hosts three games in the home confines.

The lone MEC opponent during the three-game stand is on Dec. 10 when West Virginia State visits. Tiffin and Ashland wrap up 2022 on Dec. 18 and 31, respectively.

Concord hosts the Hilltoppers on Jan. 4, then back-to-back home games versus Glenville State and Frostburg State on the ensuing Saturday and Wednesday get West Liberty right back into action to kick off 2023.

West Liberty will be at Bluefield State on Jan. 18 for their last non-conference matchup after a Saturday faceoff at Fairmont State.

The Hilltoppers play 12 consecutive MEC games finish the regular season with six home and six away.

Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins come to the hilltop on successive Wednesdays, starting with AB on Jan. 18 followed by D&E on the 25.

Starting Feb. 4 against Charleston, the Hilltoppers will host on four straight Saturdays to round out the regular season.

Concord and Fairmont State trek up the hill on Feb. 11 and 18, while Wheeling caps off the campaign for WLU on the 25.

The Hilltoppers will aim to compete for their second MEC Tournament crown during the week of March 1-5 at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.
