West Liberty Wrestling Moves Into Top 10
WEST LIBERTY – The West Liberty University men’s wrestling team has climbed to No. 10 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Top 25 rankings, making an impressive leap from No. 18 in the previous poll
The Hilltoppers’ strong start to the season is bolstered by five wrestlers earning individual rankings:
Ty McGeary (184 lbs.): The two-time national champion holds the top spot at his weight class and boasts a 2-0 record in dual meets this season.
Logan Davis (125 lbs.): The freshman debuts in the rankings at No. 8 with a 2-0 start to his collegiate career.
Jordan Watters (157 lbs.): The redshirt senior also cracks the rankings for the first time, landing at No. 12 with a 2-0 record.
Alec Cook (165 lbs.): The graduate student from Weirton, W.Va., is ranked No. 7 and is off to a perfect 2-0 start.
Parker Bentley (285 lbs.): The redshirt sophomore rounds out the ranked Hilltoppers at No. 9 in the heavyweight class, also holding a 2-0 record.
West Liberty has started the season strong, posting a 2-0 record in dual meets and earning a runner-up finish at the Mount Union Invite.
The Hilltoppers return to action on Dec. 7 at the Little State Invite in Indianapolis, Indiana, looking to build on their early success.
