High School Roundup: ‘Noles Girls Flip The Script In Fourth; Red Devils Sweep Bruins
WOODSFIELD – The Monroe Central Seminoles saved their best for last Wednesday against the Shenandoah Zeps, taking a two-point deficit into the fourth quarter of their home game and putting the pedal down for a 44-37 victory.
Down 27-25 after three periods, the ‘Noles outscored their opponents 19-10 in the fourth.
Mayzie Emery turned it up a notch in the final frame, scoring 13 points and making two 3-pointers to finish with 16 in the game.
Brylee McFrederick scored 11 points with five blocks and seven rebounds for Monroe Central. Brenna Leach scored a game-high 18 for the Zeps.
St. Clairsville 51, Brooke 22.
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Red Devils made it a sweep with their second win of the season against the Bruins.
Anna Kain led St. Clairsville with 16 points. Brooke was led by Hope Bowman with a dozen.

John Marshall 66, Magnolia 53
MOUNDSVILLE – The Monarchs repelled the visiting Blue Eagles on Wednesday, despite a torrid shooting display by the visitors.
Kingston Christen made three 3-pointers on his way to 17 points and Hunter Oates made four 3-pointers on his way to 14 points. Dubale Greathouse led Magnolia with 18.
John Marshall’s was a balanced scoring attack, with six Monarchs scoring at least eight points. Jackson Helms scored a game-high 19 points, and Bryar Haught scored a dozen.
John Marshall led 30-22 at halftime and 51-45 after three.
Monroe Central 66, Barnesville 36
WOODSFIELD – The Seminoles dominated on their home court Wednesday to move to 14-2 on the year.
Tucker Howell scored 18 points to lead Monroe Central, Corbin Farnsworth scored 13 and Chance Allen scored 11.
Braedon Willis led Barnesville with 11.

MORGANTOWN – The Hawks held off the Patriots on Bakers’ Ridge in their Tuesday outing.
Josh Huffman led all scorers with 20 points for Park, followed by Jay Bordas with 11.
Luke Byrer scored 14 for the Hawks and Zach Demidovich scored 13.

Cameron 52, Valley 30
PINE GROVE – The Dragons picked up a road victory against the Lumberjills on Tuesday.
The second quarter was pivotal for Cameron. After going ahead 15-11 in the first quarter, the Dragons won the second frame 18-3 to take a 33-14 lead at the half.
Maci Neely led all scorers with 18 points, also grabbing eight rebounds. Macey Bertram finished with an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double, and Devan Shrack grabbed 11 rebounds to go with five points.
Laken Dawson led Valley with a dozen markers.

Brooke Tops Weir
Darion Hillton rolled games of 221 and 185 for a superb 4-6 series as the Bruins outrolled the Red Riders 1,904 to 1,763.

Linsly Splashes To Pair Of Wins
WHEELING – The Cadets swam past Richmond 131-31 and East Liverpool 110-48 in boys’ action as Sebastian Jayakumar won the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Freestyle. Linsly finished 15-1 on the year.
In girls’ action, Linsly topped Edison 103-53 and East Liverpool 115-26 as Jasmine Lourenco captured the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. The Cadets ended at 14-2.
Both Linsly teams will be back in action on Feb. 14-15 at the Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships at Franklin and Marshall University in Lancaster, Pa.
