Wheeling Outscores Morgantown, 10-8
MORGANTOWN — Wheeling Post 1 scored runs in five of the nine innings Tuesday night in defeating host Morgantown Post 2 by a 10-8 count.
Jaxon Murray belted two singles and a double to lead a 11-hit Post 1 attack. He also drove in two runs and scored twice.
Reece Davis slugged a three-run home run as Wheeling scored three times in the second and four in the eighth.
Seth Cover singled, doubled and drove in a run while Chris Upton added an RBI double and Ryland Robb singled in another. Jack Selmon had two singles.
Tucker Doty, the fourth of five Wheeling pitchers, picked up the win. He struck out one and walked two in three innings of one-hit relief work.
Upton notched the save with two innings of work. He fanned three and issued a trio of free passes while giving up one hit.
