WHEELING — The Wheeling Park Patriots boys and girls swim teams each started their season with big victories Thursday, taking first place in a quad meet involving the Patriots, John Marshall Monarchs, Brooke Bruins and Weir Red Riders inside the Wheeling Park natatorium.

Wheeling Park’s boys finished with 59 points, followed by John Marshall with 54, Brooke with 47 and Weir with five.

Wheeling Park’s girls finished with 79 points, followed by John Marshall with 63, Brooke with 18 and Weir with seven.

John Marshall’s boys won the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. Their girls won the 200 freestyle relay as well.

Wheeling Park’s girls won the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.

The Patriots also had a trio of competitors win multiple individual events. On the boys’ side, Ronan Maxwell won both the 200-meter freestyle and 500-meter freestyle, and Brady Bowie won both the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle.

Molly George claimed the top spot in both the 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke.
