WV man faces involuntary manslaughter in teen's shooting
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia man has been indicted on an involuntary manslaughter charge in a fatal shooting that was earlier reported as a suicide and an accident.
News outlets report David Jakob Moore also is charged with wanton endangerment in the recently unsealed Cabell County Grand Jury indictment.
Huntington Police Chief Hank Dial said 19-year-old Steven Parker Weekley’s death was reported to police as a suicide last year. But a caller also had told authorities that a gun had been dropped and it fired, shooting someone in the head.
Weekley’s mother told WSAZ-TV she didn’t believe her son had killed himself.
The chief said on Monday that investigators determined there was more to the story, with evidence to be presented at trial.
