OPALs to Visit Amish Country

The Older People With Active Lifestyles group is heading out of town for a day trip to Amish Country in Ohio on May 25.

Participants will see a musical, “The Home Game,” at the Ohio Star Theater in Sugar Creek. The OPALs group will be one of the first to visit this new venue. The show is about an Amish boy who leaves home to play major league baseball.

In addition to the show, the group will have lunch at Dutch Valley Restaurant and have time for shopping in Amish country.

Mary Velez, OPALs director, said, “I am really looking forward to this trip with our wonderful OPALs members. I have been traveling with our OPALs group for 22 years now and have made many wonderful friends. If you have never experienced it, plan on joining us for great food and wonderful fellowship. The only requirement to be an OPALs member is to be 55 or older and be willing to have some fun.”

The cost of this trip includes motorcoach transportation, lunch, reserved seating for the show, taxes and gratuities. To make a reservation, call Uniglobe Ohio Valley Travel at 304-232-5171 or 800-825-7314. Reservations and final payment are due April 25.

Membership in OPALs is free and includes a quarterly newsletter, free exercise classes at East Ohio Regional Hospital, luncheons, educational events such as Pink Power Night, and day and multi-day trips. For more information about joining the OPALs organization or future trips and activities, call Velez at 304-234-8643.
