OPALs Heads to Flight 93 National Memorial in October
The Older People With Active Lifestyles group will be joining visitors to honor the heroes on Flight 93 during a special bus trip set for Oct. 9.
The first stop of the day will be in Shanksville, Pa., to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial that opened in 2015. The tour will include the visitor center with exhibit area, the Learning Center, the Memorial Plaza at the crash site, the Flight Path Walkway and the bookstore. The OPALs members will hear about the brave actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001.
After this moving experience, the group will head to the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel. They will go to the Oakhurst Tea Room for a buffet at lunchtime.
The next stop will be at the Quecreek Mine Rescue Memorial in Somerset, Pa., for a tour and presentation. The day ends at the Glades Pike Winery where the OPALs members will be treated to a tour, a wine tasting and heavy appetizers. The coach should arrive back in Wheeling at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The cost of this trip includes motor coach, services of step-on guide, lunch, tours, winery tasting and appetizers, taxes and gratuities. The OPALs group is partnering with Uniglobe Travel for this excursion.
