OPALs to See ‘A Christmas Carol’
The Older People With Active Lifestyles group is heading out for a trip to see “A Christmas Carol” at the West Virginia Public Theatre in Morgantown Dec. 14.
Charles Dickens’ classic holiday story will be told on the stage of the Lyell B. Blay Concert Theatre at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center. OPALs members will join students for a 10 a.m. performance.
After the show, OPALs members will have a festive lunch at the Waterfront Place in Morgantown. The menu for the luncheon will give travelers a choice of roasted pork loin with apple jam or chicken piccata with lemon caper and white wine sauce. Entrees are served with a market salad, assorted rolls and chef’s choice of vegetable, potato and dessert.
The OPALs group, sponsored by Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital, is celebrating its 26th anniversary this year. The group provides activities for area residents, age 55 and older. Activities include free exercise classes at EORH, educational luncheons, day trips and overnight trips.
Mary Velez, OPALs director, suggested giving this trip as a present “to someone who has everything. What a delightful Christmas gift this would make for that special mother, aunt or friend. You do not have to be an OPALs member to join us for fun and fellowship,” she added.
For more information on how to become an OPALs member or about the trip, call Velez at 304-234-8643.
The cost of this trip includes show tickets, meal at the Waterfront Place in Morgantown, gratuities and transportation. Departure from Wheeling will be at 8 a.m. The group will return to Wheeling by approximately 4 p.m.
The deadline to make reservations is Nov. 19. Reservations can be made by calling Uniglobe Travel at 304-232-5171 or 800-825-7314. Full payment is due upon making a reservation.
