Health, Fitness Expo Planned for 2017

In 2017, the Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run and Walk for Leukemia will celebrate its 20th year on the weekend of Aug. 4-5. And in his usual gung-ho style, race director Ron Green will mark the occasion in new and exciting ways.

First, there will be a kick-off steak fry on July 29, 2017, on the ice rink at Wheeling Park. Green said, however, this will not be your standard steak fry where patrons are asked to cook their steaks.

“This is going to be catered by Undo’s. We want to be able to relax the week before the race activities,” Green said. “This will be for anyone and everyone who is a part of the race or supports us.”

Second, next year’s Debbie Green Race weekend will include a health and fitness expo with vendors and other agencies involved in the industry. Green said that could be anyone or anything from hospitals to vendors of running shoes.

Green is still formulating plans for the expo including the exact location for the event. Anyone interested in being a part of the expo can call Ron at 740-859-0704 or 740-296-3958.
