Shirts, Pizza and Prizes for ‘Debbie’s Dash’
WHEELING — The Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run and Walk for Leukemia has always had a focus on children and this year is no different.
“Debbie’s Dash”— a 100-yard dash is for children ages 9 and younger. This event is set for 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at Heritage Port, with registration from 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday or on Friday evening from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
There is a $3 entry fee, and shirts and pizza are guaranteed to the first 150 registered. There also will be ice cream by Brynn E. Bears.
Race director Ron Green wanted to make the Debbie Dash evening even more fun by adding some great giveaways. The Debbie’s Dash will celebrate back-to-school with a school supply giveaway. The first 150 children registered will receive school supplies, and 10 large backpacks will be awarded as door prizes.
The Debbie’s Dash grand prize is four tickets and an overnight stay at King’s Island Great Wolfe Lodge and water park.
The trip must be selected by Nov. 1 and is non-transferable.
The fun doesn’t stop there. Toys ‘R Us gift certificates and other prizes will be awarded. And four lucky youngsters will go home with new bicycles. Two boys and two girls bicycles have been donated by Terry Whitecotton.
