The Green Mile Pays Tribute to Military Personnel

WHEELING — The  Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run and Walk for Leukemia includes the “Green Mile,” a 1-mile race that starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5 at Heritage Port.

The Green Mile will be run in honor of the United State military veterans, past and present, and those who paid the ultimate         sacrifice.

“We can never thank them enough,” said race coordinate Ron Green.

Entry fee is $13 prior to the day of the race and $15 on race day. Registration and packet pickup is from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday.

Shirts are guaranteed to the first 250 registered participants. Pizza will be provided by Domino’s and free refreshments also will be available. Wild Horse will provide the entertainment. ChampionChip timing will be performed by Runners High.

The top two runners in each age group will receive trophies. The top 10 male and female runners and walkers will receive eagle statues.

The Green Mile door prize will provide a one-year membership to CentreTown Fitness.

The Green Mile Age Divisions include:

∫ 35-39

∫ 40-44

∫ 45-49

∫ 50-54

∫ 55-59

∫ 60-64

∫ 65-69

∫ 70-79

∫ 80 & Over.
