Pockls Celebrate 50th
Michael and Patricia Pockl celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Dec. 27. They were united in marriage on Dec. 27, 1969, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. Vladimir Levitzky, who officiated the Divine Liturgy.
Patricia is the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Sheleva) Paluch of Wheeling. She spent 44 years in education. She taught at Bishop Donahue High School, and was interim head mistress at Wheeling Country Day School. She retired from Ohio County Schools as director of federal programs.
Michael is the son of the late John and Angela (LePore) Pockl of Wheeling. He spent 40 years in education. He was a teacher and coach at Wheeling High School, principal at Bridge Street Junior High School in Ohio County Schools, and executive director for school improvement at Akron City Schools. He retired from Zanesville City Schools as superintendent of schools.
They are the proud parents of one daughter Michelle and her husband David Runkle. They have two grandchildren: a granddaughter Miah and a grandson Michael.
An open house planned by their daughter and grandchildren was held on Friday, Dec. 27 for family and friends to celebrate the anniversary.
On Saturday, Dec. 28, Pastor Jason Charron officiated at a Divine Liturgy held in their honor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Ukrainian Catholic Church.
They are planning a river cruise during the summer to celebrate their golden anniversary.
