Weavers Celebrate 60th
George F. and Sandra Weaver of Sherrard celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday, May 7.
George F. “Fred” “Henry” Weaver is the son of the late John A. and Agnes M. Weaver. Sandra A. Semple Weaver is the daughter of the late Charles L. and Opal Semple.
They were united in marriage by the Rev. Robert E. Lee at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in South Wheeling on May 7, 1960.
Henry is a retired mechanic from the Wheeling Post Office; Sandy worked at Aetna Insurance and the telephone company in Wheeling before becoming a full-time mother and homemaker. In later years, Sandy worked at Butch’s Corner in Sherrard and Riesbeck’s in Elm Grove.
For 42 years, the couple worked a beef cattle farm together in Sherrard, until finally retiring from the farm – just this past year.
The Weavers are the parents of four children: Tracie (Mark McDonald) of Inwood, W.Va.; Fred (Shelly) of Wheeling; Carol (Harry) Burge and David (Lindsay), all of Moundsville. They are also the proud Grandma and Poppy of five grandchildren, April, Sarah, Savannah, Nathan and Brody Weaver, and a special young man, Jeremiah Wood. They also have two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Raelynn Neiswanger, and four step-great grandchildren, Peter Neiswanger, Kristina Sandford, Jason Sandford, and Emma Aleshire.
A family gathering will be held in their honor.
