Cassandras Mark 60th
Jerry and Sally Cassandra of Wellsburg, W.Va., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 18, at the Garabaldi Lodge Hall in Follansbee, W.Va., which was the very same place where they had their first date.
They were married at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Follansbee, W.Va., with the late Fr. John Allison officiating. The couple was greeted at the hall with family and friends who joined in the celebration as Fr. Arul Anthony of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church of Wellsburg gave a special blessing followed by a pre-dinner prayer.
Sally is the daughter of the late Domenick and Mary Young of Wellsburg. She retired from the Brooke County Sheriff’s Office having served 36 years as a tax deputy.
Jerry is the son of the late Orlando and Rena Cassandra of Follansbee. He retired from Norteman Meats and Specialty in Elm Grove, Wheeling, W.Va., having served 35 years, of which he started in outside sales and at retirement, he was vice president of the county. Shortly after, he accepted a position with the Brooke County Assessor’s Office and worked for 10 years until his final retirement.
The couple continues to reside, with their dog Bella, in the home they built shortly after their marriage.
