Veneida and Joe Baker of Wheeling celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

The couple met during high school, were married at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, with Rev. John Paulin officiating, and spent their lives dedicated to each other and raising their family.

Veneida Baker is the daughter of the late Harry A. Krider and the late Dorothy Krider. She was a stay-at-home mom while the children were young and later worked at Wheeling Hospital and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Church and School.

Joe Baker is the son of the late Norbert L. Baker and the late Angela Stenger Baker. He is an army veteran and retired from Savage Construction Company following 47 years of service. He is a lifetime member of the Elm Grove Lions Club.

They have six children, 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, with No. 7 coming in November.

The couple was honored by their family with a weekend celebration at Oglebay Park.
