Jack and Rosemarie Zearott of Benwood celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 19. They were united in marriage Feb. 19, 1972, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Benwood, with The Rev. Michael O’Reilly officiating. Rosemarie is the daughter of the late Mary and Matthew Polus of Benwood. She retired from Gompers and Associates in Wheeling. John and Janet Serig Nixon will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 22. Mr. and Mrs. Nixon were married on Jan. 22, 1972, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elm Grove. Janet is the daughter of the late Chuck and Ruth Serig, and John is the son of the late Harold and Rose Baller Nixon. John is retired from the former Bloch Brothers Tobacco/Swisher International, and Janet is retired from Rite Aid pharmacy. Jane and Fred Smith of Cameron, W.Va., celebrated 50 years of marriage on Dec. 18. They were united in marriage in 1971 at the Presbyterian Church in Cameron, W.Va. Jane is the daughter of the late Edith and Robert Postlethwaite, and Fred is the son of the late Imogene and Fred Smith. Russel and Patty Travis are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 20. They were united in marriage Nov. 20, 1971 at Blessed Trinity Catholic church by the Rev. Cesidio Federico. Patty is the former Patty Stevens. She is a retired dental hygienist. Russell is a retired bus driver for OVRTA. They are the parents of two daughters: Tricia Lohsl and Gena Spurlock.
