Couple Celebrates 50th

Russel and Patty Travis are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 20. They were united in marriage Nov. 20, 1971 at Blessed Trinity Catholic church by the Rev. Cesidio Federico. Patty is the former Patty Stevens. She is a retired dental hygienist. Russell is a retired bus driver for OVRTA. They are the parents of two daughters: Tricia Lohsl and Gena Spurlock. The family includes four granddaughters, Shelly, Kaitlyn, Briana and Sophia; two grandsons, Daniel and Travis; a great-granddaughter, Journee; and great-grandsons, Eli, Mason and Camron.

Weekleys Mark Golden

Gary and Theresa Weekley of Wheeling are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 23. They were united in marriage Oct. 23, 1971, at Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Wheeling by The Rev. J. Elbert Perkins. Theresa is the daughter of the late Charges and Sara Fisher of Wheeling. Gary is the son of the late Homer and Phyllis Weekley of Sistersville. They are the parents of two children. The family includes Sheila Weekley of Wheeling and Gary Weekley Jr. and his wife, Colleen, of Wheeling. They also have four grandchildren: Nathan, Emma, Abigail and Wyatt.

Andersons Mark 65 Years

Lucian and Melba Anderson of Wheeling are celebrating 65 years of marriage on Oct. 14. Lucian was a Warwood High School basketball player, and Melba was a Martins Ferry Purple Rider when they first met at a dance. They married Oct. 14, 1956 in Martins Ferry. Lucian is a Navy veteran and retired as a machinist from Weirton Steel. Melba was a stay-at-home mom and then worked as a pharmacy technician at Rite Aid. Ratcliffes Celebrate 40 Years

Randy and Kathy (Dierkes) Ratcliffe are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on Sept. 26. They exchanged their vows on Sept. 26, 1981, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church in South Wheeling. Randy is the son of the late Alfred and Mary Lou Ratcliffe. Kathy is the daughter of the late George and Mildred Dierkes. They are the parents of two sons: Scott (Ashlee) of Inwood, W.Va., and Paul Jacob of Wheeling. They have been blessed with three granddaughters: Laken, Kendall and Avalyn. A family celebration will be held at a later date.

Parkers Celebrate 50th

Rick and Cindy (McQuain) Parker of Weirton are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were united in marriage by Rev. Larry Brown on Sept. 18, 1971, at the old St. Paul’s Church that was on County Road. Cindy is the daughter of the late Jack and Grace McQuain. She worked at The Gap and was an aide for Hancock County Schools. Rick is the son of the late Stanley and Roselyn Parker. Joe and Mary Thomas of Wheeling are celebrating 50 years of marriage. They were united in marriage on Sept. 18, 1971, at St. Joan of Arc Church with the Rev. Victor Seidel officiating the ceremony. Joe is the son of the late Tom (Butch) and Virginia (Vee) Thomas. Mary is the daughter of the late Chuck and Alberta Edwards. They are the parents of two sons, Jay (Cherie) of Charlottesville, Va., and Jeff of Columbus. They have triplet grandchildren: Ashton, Brianna and Cameron of Charlottesville, Va. They plan to celebrate with a family dinner.
