George and Joan Polen of Rayland announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Lynn Polen, to Alex Jay Gruber, son of Geary Gruber and Janet Gruber, both of Wheeling.
Polen is a 2001 graduate of Buckeye Local High School, a 2006 graduate of West Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in art education and a graduate of West Virginia University with a master’s degree in instructional design and technology. She is employed by Buckeye Local High School as an art teacher in Rayland.
Gruber is a 2004 graduate of Wheeling Park High School and a 2008 graduate of West Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He is employed as a help desk team lead at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in Wheeling.
An Aug. 8 wedding is planned at the Formal Gardens at Oglebay Park, Wheeling.
