Ladies League

The Ladies League of Marshall County will meet in John Marshall High School’s commons at 7 p.m. Monday. A representative from Amedisys Hospice will be the guest speaker.

Reservations will be taken for a Dec. 9 Christmas party at Moundsville Country Club. Members are asked to donate personal care items for teenage girls and boys. They are reminded to donate used printer cartridges, dimes, aluminum pull tabs, coupons and Box Tops for Education.

Film Showing

The Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, 700 Fifth St., will present a “Think Outside the Book” film, “The Last Waltz,” rated PG, at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The film showing is free and open to the public.

People’s University

The People’s University series, “Wheeling in Literature,” at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, at 7 p.m. Tuesday will feature George Fetherling, a Wheeling-born poet, writer, editor, scholar and visual artist. His topic will be “Wheeling and Its Writers.” The program is free and open to the public.

Preservation Alliance

The South Wheeling Preservation Alliance will meet at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3536 Eoff St., Wheeling, at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. The leadership board will provide homemade desserts and trivia fun. Donations will be collected for Hope Methodist Church’s food pantry.

The South Wheeling Neighborhood Watch will meet at Trinity Lutheran Church from 6:30-7 p.m. The SWPA museum will close on Saturday and reopen in April.

National Trail Stitchers

The National Trail Stitchers chapter of the Embroidery Guild of America will meet at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 1410 Chapline St., Wheeling, at 6 p.m. Tuesday. A program will feature Christmas ornaments. For more information, call 304-312-1566.

Advent Evening by the Fire

An Advent Evening by the Fire will be offered at St. Joseph Retreat Center, 137 Mount St. Joseph Road, Wheeling, at 7 p.m. Dec. 5. Light refreshments will be served. Free-will donations will be accepted.

Sunshine Social Club

The Sunshine Friday Social Club will hold a Christmas dinner at Ye Olde Alpha, 50 Carmel Road,Wheeling, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Dec. 7. Participants are to bring a gift card or money to exchange. There is a cost for the dinner. Reservations are to be made this week by calling Glynda Marie Walker, volunteer coordinator, at 304-243-0994.

Island Lions Club

The Wheeling Island Lions Club will hold its District Governor’s Night on Dec. 2 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 200 S. Penn St., Wheeling, with social time at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.

There is a charge for the event. Reservations are requested by Wednesday and may be made by texting or calling Don Rebich at 304-374-5804.

Special guest will be District Gov. Bill Syphers, a member of the Island Lions. The club also will observe its 35th anniversary.

Bake Sale

A bake sale to benefit Dally Memorial Library will be held Wednesday at two sites: Citizens National Bank in Sardis, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the library, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Artworks Around Town

Artworks Around Town in Wheeling’s Centre Market will participate in Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30. Artists will demonstrate their skills, a cookie sale will be conducted and a free craft for the children will be offered.

Paint & Sip

A paint & sip event will be held at Artworks Around Town in Wheeling’s Centre Market at 6 p.m. Dec. 3. A Christmas tree will be the subject. Paint, canvas, brushes and light refreshments will be provided.

Recipe Club

The Brooke County Public Library’s recipe club for adults will meet in the River Room, 945 Main St., Wellsburg, at noon Tuesday with a theme of cookies. For more information, call the library at 304-737-1551.
