SWPA to Host Gratitude Dessert Night, Caroling
WHEELING — The South Wheeling Preservation Alliance will meet at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3536 Eoff St. immediately following the 6:30 p.m. Neighborhood Watch meeting.
Following tradition, the SWPA’s Leadership Board will provide homemade desserts for the November meeting, taking time to count their blessings and have some trivia fun. They also will collect freewill donations for the Food Pantry at Hope Methodist Church.
“The year is winding down. The museum will close on Nov. 30 until April 2020,” said Ginger Kabala, SWPA president.
However, the windows at the Alliance Center on Jacob Street will be decorated for the holidays for December by Brother John Byrd and Judy Mealy.
“I think that your whole family would enjoy a drive-by or window stop to see ‘their’windows. Based on old photos that we’ve seen, our Christmas windows are a tribute to Cooey-Bentz’s Christmas windows with a number of similarities,” Kabala added.
The SWPA will host its third annual Christmas caroling night at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20. They will meet at the center, pick up lighted candles, serenade around the neighborhood, and return to the center for hot chocolate. Valery Staskey, an accomplished vocalist, will lead the group. Bring the whole family for fun and fellowship.
