Central Students to Collect Food This Saturday

WHEELING–Students, faculty and staff will take to the streets of Wheeling today to distribute bags for the 49th annual CCHS Canned Food Drive.

The “signature bags” are brown paper bags with distinctive flyers attached. Pick-up for the drive is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 beginning at 10 a.m. A host of volunteers will hit the streets again, this time to pick up the sacks that people have generously left out.

The event benefits the Catholic Charities 18th Street Center and is the largest single food drive in the state of West Virginia.

The items collected are used to stock the pantry shelves of the center for the long winter months when the need is typically greatest.

The public is asked to look for the bags on Wednesday and consider filling them with non-perishable food items and place the bags back on the porch for Dec. 7 collection.
