Newcomers Club

The Wheeling Newcomers Club will meet at Wheeling Country Club at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The program will feature a gift exchange; participation is optional.

After the program, luncheon will be served. There is a cost for the meal; a vegetarian option is available. For more information and to make a reservation, call 740-391-1944.

Wheeling Class of ’50

Wheeling High School Class of 1950 will hold its monthly luncheon at Generations Restaurant, 338 National Road, Wheeling, at 1 p.m. Monday. The event is open to all former students, friends and visitors.

Sand Hill CEOS

The Sand Hill Community Educational Outreach Service Club will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday for a Christmas party at the home of Sue Bryant. Members will fill Christmas stockings and have a luncheon at noon. A gift exchange will be held.

St. Joseph’s Class of ’54

St. Joseph’s Academy Class of 1954 will hold its monthly luncheon at Generations Restaurant, 338 National Road, Wheeling, at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The event is open to all former students, friends and visitors.

Lunch With Books

The finale of Lunch With Books’ Wheeling 250 series will feature a panel discussion at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., at noon Tuesday. Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott, Ron Scott Jr. from the YWCA Wheeling and Betsy Sweeny from Wheeling Heritage will discuss their vision for the city. Lunch With Books programs are free and open to the public.

Film

The Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, 700 Fifth St., will present a “Think Outside the Book” film, “The Art of Racing in the Rain,” rated PG, at 6 p.m. Monday. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees may bring snacks and seat cushions.

Book Launch

The Wheeling 250 commemorative children’s book, “Once There Was a Mouse,” will be introduced to the community at a book launch event at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The first 250 families to request a copy of the book will receive one free. To make a request, visit the library’s circulation desk or call 304-232-0244.

Copies of the book are for sale at the Wheeling Artisan Center shop, 1400 Main St.

Christmas Event

Wes Howsare will lead a Christmas sing-along for all ages at the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, 700 Fifth St., at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Island Garden Club

The Wheeling Island Garden Club will hold its Christmas meeting Thursday at Wheeling Country Club with a short business session and a gift exchange. Jane Fadul and Joann Williams will serve as hostesses. Mrs. Claus will visit. For more information, call 304-242-8732.

Collegiate Alumnae

Collegiate Alumnae of Wheeling will meet at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church’s fellowship hall, 1232 National Road, Wheeling. Tim Thompson and The Crazy 8s will present a program, “Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre: Past and Present.” A brief business meeting and lunch will precede the program. Movies

The Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, 700 Fifth St., will show “The Polar Express” at 6 p.m. Friday and “The Grinch,” rated PG, at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Breakfast With Santa

Breakfast with Santa will be held at the Fort Steuben Mall in Steubenville from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Proceeds will support A Child’s Place CASA, serving Brooke, Hancock and Jefferson counties.

Seating is limited and reservations are required. Registration forms are available at the mall management office and by calling or texting CASA at 304-737-4444.

Tea Luncheons

The Eckhart House, 810 Main St., Wheeling, will hold Christmas tea luncheons at noon Saturday and on Dec. 21.

Performance

The 24th annual performance of the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah” will be presented at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1443 Belleview Blvd., Steubenville, at 4 p.m. next Sunday, Dec. 15.

Ballet

The Mid Ohio Valley Ballet will perform “The Nutcracker” at the Lincoln Theater in New Martinsville at 7 p.m. Monday. Tickets for the ArtsLink event will be available at the door.

Dungeons & Dragons Club

A Dungeons & Dragons Club for adults will meet at the Brooke County Public Library, 945 Main St., Wellsburg, from 6-9 p.m. Monday. Registration is not required.

Craft Table

The Brooke County Public Library, 945 Main St., Wellsburg, will offer “Grinch” themed crafts from 4-6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Supplies are limited.

Family Movie Night
