WHEELING — The Wheeling Area Genealogical Society is launching a new lecture series this year to explore the history of churches in Wheeling.
The series, which is free and open to the public, begins in February and continues monthly through October.
Sessions will be held in the Ohio County Public Library’s auditorium, 52 16th St., at 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. The only exception, however, is in April, when the program will be offered on the first Saturday.
The schedule of presentations is as follows:

∫ March 14 — “Baptist Church in Wheeling,” presented by the Rev. Darrin Wright.
∫ April 4 — “Greek Orthodox Church in Wheeling,” presented by Ellen Culler. This meeting will be on the first Saturday of the month, rather than on Easter Saturday.

∫ June 13 — “Catholic Church in Wheeling,” presented by Jon-Erik Gilot.
∫ July 11 — “Presbyterian Church in Wheeling,” presented by Jeanne Finstein.
