Wheeling Health Right to Host 27th Chef’s Auction

WHEELING — WesBanco Arena will transform into a magical, faraway land when Wheeling Health Right hosts “Once Upon a Time.”

Wheeling Health Right’s 27th Chef’s Auction, set this year for 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, will take guests on a journey through the world of fairy tales.

The Christian Fellowship Foundation returns as title sponsor of the event. Popular local band Hit Play will provide entertainment, courtesy of entertainment sponsor Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration.

The clinic’s largest fundraiser of the year, the Chef’s Auction showcases local chefs and restaurants, offering the crowd the opportunity to vote for their favorite in various categories. Terri Henry, chair of the Wheeling Health Right Auxiliary that hosts the event, said each year the chefs seem to outdo themselves compared to the past year. “We’re always excited to see what the chefs cook up next, with food and presentation as well as decorating according to the year’s theme,” she said.

Henry said the entertainment this year offers a notable attraction for guests. “We’re so excited that Hit Play is joining us this year,” she said. The Top 40 Variety cover band appeals to all ages with a wide mix of variety and style. Hit Play’s song list covers artists including Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Journey, and The Beatles.

The silent and live auctions are the centerpiece of the annual event. The silent auction offers hundreds of specialty baskets and items from local businesses in a wide variety that offers something for everyone’s tastes. Live auction items include dinner packages from participating restaurants, get-away weekend trips, tickets/packages for various sport venues, and many other exciting items donated by area merchants. Once again this year, the auction will feature online bidding technology designed to allow participants to bid and monitor their auctions on their mobile phones while still enjoying dinner, entertainment and company. Auction organizers are currently accepting donations of silent and live auction items. They also are accepting inquiries from chefs and restaurants to participate in the event on May 1.

For information about donations or to inquire about chef participation, call clinic Assistant Director Kelly Clutter-Brown at 304-233-1135. To purchase tickets and register for online bidding, visit www.wheelinghealthright.com.
