Gilot to Present Civil War Talk On Monday
WHEELING — Jon-Eric Gilot will address the members of The Ohio Valley Civil War Roundtable prior to their February meeting at the Ohio County Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Monday. He is a resident of Wheeling and a lifelong student of the Civi War.
Giot studied at Bethany College and Kent State University and has worked in archives and preservation for the past 15 years. He is a contributing historian at Emerging Civil War and currently co-authoring a book for the popular “Emerging Civil War Series.” His research has been included in numerous books and publications, most recently the Journal of the Shenandoah Valley During the Civil War, published by Shenandoah University.
Gilot’s topic is “Hardships and dangers will bind men as brothers…” — The Experiences of Two Ohio National Guard Regiments During the Summer of 1864. The lecture is free of charge and open to the public.
