Artworks Celebrates Her Own With Artist Wagner
WHEELING — If you have strolled through the gallery at Artworks Around Town in the past couple of years, you have undoubtedly noticed Diana Wagner’s handiwork. The fragrances will draw you in and the vast array of products displayed invitingly will keep you looking. There are goat’s milk soaps in all “flavors” from lavender to sage, lotions, shampoos and even dog soaps.
Wagner and her two sisters grew up on a farm just outside of Centerville, Ohio. Family has always been important to her and they are her biggest supporters.
Her business started out with an idea while on vacation with her younger sister in 2014.They decided to make soaps for Christmas presents for family and friends. It wasn’t long before this small hobby turned into something more. Soon, Wagner was making soap in the evenings after work and on weekends.
To facilitate her burgeoning cottage industry, Wagner added a 15 by 30 foot extension to her home. This addition provided manufacturing and storage space as well as a small retail area.
Her soaps are primarily made of goats milk, which she buys locally. Her lotions are made of coconut oil, mango and shea butter and various fragrance oils. She also features lip balms and shave butters.
This is a sample of some of her soaps: oatmeal milk and honey, spearmint eucalyptus, white tea and ginger, honeysuckle, orange and clove and harvest spice. Wagner even carries products for dogs: Stinky dog soap (tea tree), doggie shampoo (oats) and paw balm. There is also a poison ivy soap.
Artworks found Wagner just two years ago and the relationship has been rewarding for everyone. Not only is her line of soaps and lotions a great draw and sell well, she is a faithful member and is always ready to help with any project the gallery undertakes. In addition to her presence at Artworks Around Town, Wagner’s soaps can be found in various local organic markets. She even makes baskets for gift giving.
