Island Scholarship Winners Announced

The Wheeling Island Community Association has awarded scholarships to Helena Queen from Wheeling Park High School and Sonny Peluchutte from Central Catholic High School. .Each received $1,000 from the Wheeling Island Community Association.

Elm Grove Eagles Seeks Nominations

Elm Grove Eagles Aerie #1891, located at 2153 National Road, Wheeling, will hold nomination of officers on Friday June 5, at normal meeting hours. Election of officers will be held on Friday, June 10, at normal election hours.

Princess Tea

Rescheduled to 2021

The eighth annual Princess Tea planned for June at the former West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville has been canceled due to our nation’s efforts to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Refunds will be provided. The event will be moved to March 20, 2021.

Retired Teachers

Committee Meeting/Luncheon Are Canceled

The Belmont County Retired Teachers Association executive committee meeting scheduled for May 28 and the luncheon scheduled for June 4 have both been canceled due to Covid 19 concerns. Yearly dues are due and may be sent to treasurer, Donna Kennedy. If you have any questions, call Donna at 740-635-1264.

Jefferson County Libraries to Offer

Curbside Service

To maintain the safety of library staff and customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will reopen with curbside service on Monday, June 1. The library will provide curbside service by appointment to customers. Customers will be able to call the library to schedule an appointment to pick up books, DVDs, magazines, and other materials. These library items will be bagged with the customerás name on it and placed in a storage bin outside the library. Customers may also return items to the library in the storage bin. In addition to picking up books, library customers can also make an appointment for curbside assistance for printing, notary service, and tax forms. Call your local library for an appointment. A date when library customers will be able to go inside the library for services has yet to be determined. Library staff will begin returning to work the weeks of May 18 and May 25 to prepare the library for cautiously reopening. Operating hours and contact information will be made available on the library’s website, www.steubenvillelibrary.org, social media, and signage on the front door of each library branch.

Bar Exam Will Be Held in July

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Board of Law Examiners, with the approval of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, plans to proceed with the administration of the Uniform Bar Examination on July 28 and 29, 2020.
