Viennese Winter Ball Cotillion Celebrating 40th Anniversary

Stella Boldrick, Cotillion chairwoman of the Viennese Winter Ball Committee, has announced the members of the 2021 Cotillion.

Ten young women and 10 young men, all of whom are seniors at local schools, have volunteered through their high school years at Wheeling Symphony events. For the past 39 years, the Cotillion has been introduced at the annual Viennese Winter Ball, usually held this month at Oglebay’s Glessner Auditorium. The Ball had to be cancelled this year due to COVID-19 concerns, but the members of the 40th Cotillion will be honored for their dedication to the symphony at an outdoor event this spring.

In honor of this milestone year, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Glessner are 40th Anniversary sponsors of this special Spring Gala. The Honorable and Mrs. Michael Olejasz are sponsors of the 2021 Cotillion.

The young women chosen for the 2021 Cotillion are as follows:

Laina Marie Anderson of St. Clairsville. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jody and Michele Anderson. Laina is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School where she serves as President of Mu Alpha Theta National Honor Society. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the French National Honor Society and Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. She is an All State Tennis Captain, OVAC and regional tennis champion, a West Virginia state tennis finalist and a four-year letterman in varsity tennis at Central. Laina is a cellist for the Wheeling Philharmonics. She is a member of the French Club, Teens for Life, Drug Free Club of America and Math Counts.

She also volunteers at the Oglebay Good Zoo. Laina plans to pur-sue a degree in environmental engi-neering and geology with a minor in music.

Vivian Grace Bloomfield of Bridgeport. She is the daughter of Ms. Debbie Stanton and Mr. Keith Bloomfield. Vivian is a senior at the Linsly School, where she is a member of the varsity volleyball team and has acted in school plays for four years. She is a member of both Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre’s Crazy 8’s and Parcel Players. Vivian is an instructor at Safety Town and attended the SCAD Sum-mer Seminar in 2019. She works at Marshall’s. Vivian plans to attend college where she will major in art education with a minor in theatre.

Mykinzie Elizabeth Buchanan of Flushing. She is the daughter of Ms. Mary Hess and Mr. Brenton Buchanan. Mykinzie is a senior at East Richland Christian School where she serves as captain of the varsity volleyball team and co-captain of the varsity cheer squad. She is a member of the varsity track team as well as the drama club. Mykinzie is a member of the National Honor Society. She is an intern for Impact Coalition. She volunteers her time at local churches, the Unity Center, and as a member of the YWCA Youth Board. Mykinzie plans to pursue a degree in business, art and design in college.

Madelyn Renee Crawford of Bellaire. She is the daughter of Mr. Terry Crawford and Ms. Denise Crawford. Madelyn is a senior at Bellaire High School where she serves as vice president of the National Honor Society and vice president of Student Council.

She is co-editor of activities for the school yearbook as well as statistician for the basketball team. Madelyn dances with the Oglebay Institute School of Dance. She plans to attend college and major in anatomy.

Victoria Faye Futey of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip and Danielle Futey. Victoria is a senior at Wheeling Park High School where she is a member of SADD Club and supports TWBAI. She holds a certificate for clinical specialties and works as a dietary aide at Welty Home. She is also a hostess at Generations. Victoria plans to attend WVU and major in communication sciences and disorders.

Lily Katherine George of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Renee George III. Lily is a senior at the Linsly School where she serves as class president, as well as being a Junior and Senior Prefect.

She is editor of the yearbook. Lily is a member of the National Honor Society and the German National Honor Society and serves as president of the German Club. She is a two-year captain of the Linsly varsity soccer team and a member of the varsity ten-nis team. Lily works as a front desk attendant at Elmhurst. She plans to attend a liberal arts college and double major in neuroscience and linguistics.

Sydney Kay Glessner of Valley Grove. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary and Missy Glessner. Sydney is a senior at the Linsly School where she serves as Head Prefect. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Drug Free Club of America and is a part of the school’s news-paper staff. Sydney is a four-year varsity cheerleader and serves as captain of the cheer squad as well as a four-year varsity member of the track team. She has danced with Oglebay Institute’s School of Dance for 15 years and has been a member of Oglebay Institute’s Pre-professional Dance program for seven years. She is a member of Volunteers for Healing Haiti and volunteers her time for Elmhurst and Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital. Sydney plans to continue her dance career and to attend college this fall and eventually law school.

Audra McKenzie Ream of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Mrs. Carolyn L. Ream and the late Dr. Thomas S. Ream. Audra is a senior at Wheeling Park High School where she is a member of the World Language National Honor Society and the FLUENT Club. She is a competitive equestrian and competes on the U.S. Equestrian Federation-rated show circuit. Audra plans to major in finance at the College of Charleston, S.C., with a concentration in real estate/international business.

Sophia Grace Stark of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Wendy Stark. Sophia is a senior at the Linsly School, where she serves as captain of the Linsly varsity soccer team. She is a member of SADD Club and Drug Free Club of America. Sophia plays soccer for PFC Club and will play soccer at the collegiate level for Baldwin Wallace University, where she plans to major in Digital Media and Design.

Zara Elizabeth Zervos of Moundsville. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted and Shawna Zervos. Zara is a senior at John Marshall High School where she is a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society as well as Drug Free Club of America.

She serves as president of her school delegation in the Youth Leader-ship Association, president of the Model United Nations and president of the General Assembly. She is committee chairwoman and secretary of education for Youth and Government. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction, an AP Capstone Scholar and a National Merit Scholar semi-finalist. Zara is a three-year captain of both the varsity soccer and cross country teams, captain of the varsity swim team and a three-year letterman in the varsity track team. She has played with the Marshall County Strings program for four years. Zara volunteers for Special Olympics, the Marshall County Swim Team and as a camp counselor for GEMS Camp. Zara plans on pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering and running track at the collegiate level.

The young men named to the 2021 Cotillion are:

Patrick Joseph Boldrick of Wheeling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs Michael and Stella Boldrick. Patrick is a senior at the Whitmore School. He works at a family owned business and volunteers his time for the Wheeling Symphony. Patrick has a passion for politics, history, governments and antiques. He builds Japanese models in his spare time. Patrick plans to go into an applied technology trade in manufacturing after he graduates.

Dylan Angelo Dunlevy of Wheeling. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Ryan and Patty Dunlevy. Dylan is a senior at the Linsly School where he has served as prefect in both his junior and senior years. He is a member of the National Honor Society, French National Honor Society, Headmaster’s Performance List, French Club, SADD Club and Drug Free Club of America. Dylan is co-captain of Linsly’s varsity golf team and a member of the varsity basketball and la-crosse teams. He is a Linsly student ambassador, Linsly Day Camp Counselor and a math and french tutor. He is a Greek Orthodox Youth Association leader. Dylan is a Junior Callaway Tour participant and volunteers at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church and First Tee. Dylan plans to pursue a degree in finance and economics in college this fall.

Steven Hughes Felton of Wheeling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack and Rhonda Felton. Steven is a senior at the Linsly School where he has served as prefect in both his junior and senior years. He is active in student government and served as president for the last two years. He is a member of the Astronomy Club. Steven is captain of Linsly’s varsity football team and is a member of the varsity track, wrestling and basketball teams. Steven plans to pursue a degree in business and play college football in the fall.

Gino Raffaele Gentile of St. Clairsville. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Rita Gentile. Gino is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School where he serves as a representative on the student council. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa National So-cial Studies Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Na-tional Honor Society, French Club, Pontifical Crew and Key Club International. Gino is a four-year letterman on Central’s varsity soccer team. Gino plans to attend Ohio State University this fall and major in chemical engineering.

Giulio Matthew Gentile of St. Clairsville. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Rita Gentile. Giulio is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School where he serves as president of the French National Honor Society and vice president of Mu Alpha Theta National Honor Society. He is a member of Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, National Honor Society, Pontifical Crew, Teens for Life Club, Math Counts Club, and Rosary Club. Giulio is a four-year letterman on Central’s varsity soccer team. He is involved in Wheeling Hospital’s Safety Town and Catholic Charities RAPP. Giulio plans to attend college and major in aerospace engineering.

Samuel John Gorence of St. Clairsville. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed and Dawn Gorence. Samuel is a senior at the Linsly School where he has served as prefect in both his junior and senior years. He is vice president of his senior class. Samual is a member of the National Honor Society, German National Honor Society, Math Club, Drug Free Club of America, and serves as co-president of Linsly’s Environmental Club. He is a member of Linsly’s varsity track team. Samuel is a summer camp counselor and gravity water volunteer. He plans to major in computer science in college.

Everett James Poole of Wheeling. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Keith and Wendy Poole. Everett is a senior at the Linsly School where he is a member of the German National Honor Society and Linsly’s forensics team. He is a two-year letterman in Linsly’s cross country team and a member of the track team. Everett is involved with theatre productions at Linsly; the Academy for Dance and Theatre Arts; Missoula Children’s Theatre and Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre. He plans to attend college in the fall.

Jacob Glenn Stern of Wheeling. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Shawn and Aimee Stern. Jacob is a senior at the Linsly School where he is a Judicial Scholar. He is a member of SADD Club and the Astronomy Club. Jacob is a four-year letterman of Linsly’s lacrosse and football teams.

He is also a member of the Natural Lacrosse Club travel team and the Ultimate Lacrosse Pittsburgh travel team. He serves as an acolyte at Lawrencefield Parish Church. Jacob will attend Marietta College this fall to major in biology and play lacrosse. After graduating from college he plans to attend medical school.

Zachary Douglas Taylor of Wheeling.

He is the son of Mr. and Dr. Jim and Heather Taylor. Zachary is a senior at the Linsly School where he is captain of Linsly’s varsity hockey team and a member of the varsity baseball and soccer teams. He plays cello in the Linsly orchestra. Zachary plans to attend college and play collegiate baseball.

Adesh Raj Urval of Wheeling. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Shashi Raj and Monisha Urval. Adesh is a senior at Wheeling Park High School where he serves as division leader of Park’s Speech and Debate Team. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a freshman mentor. Adesh is on Park’s varsity track, soccer and cross country teams. He serves on the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Council. Adesh volunteers at Wheeling Hospital and the House of the Carpenter. He plans to attend college in the fall and eventually become a physician.
