Viennese Winter Ball Cotillion Ready to Dance the Night Away

WHEELING – The Viennese Winter Ball, the most elegant social event of the season, takes place on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Glessner Auditorium in Wilson Lodge, Oglebay.

Organized by an 18-member committee, the Ball is an important fundraiser for the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.

A highlight of the event is the participation of the Cotillion, featuring 10 young women and 10 young men, all seniors at local high schools. Mr. Les DeFelice, Visiting Angels, is the sponsor of the 2025 Cotillion.

The young women chosen for the 2025 Cotillion are:

– Emily Gracin Blatt of Wheeling is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Blatt. Emily is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. She is a member of Drug Free Clubs of America, GUTS, and cross-country and Track and Field teams. She is President of the Big Sisters Club and has danced for the Oglebay Institute School of Dance for 16 years. Emily is also involved with Ohio Valley Younglife and the St. Michael Parish Youth Group where she is a parish volunteer. She worked at Wheeling Park. Emily plans to attend Duquesne University and major in Political Science with the goal of attending law school.

– Olivia Lynn Creely of Wheeling is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Creely. Olivia is a senior at The Linsly School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society and French National Honor Society. She is also a member of and manager for the soccer team and a member of the bowling team. She worked at Oglebay Park as a lake attendant, and worked for Oglebayfest and the Festival of Lights. At Oglebay, she won an award for outstanding customer service. Olivia plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Art and Design.

– Gianna Abigail Landis of Wheeling is the daughter of Mr. Clint Landis and Ms. Jessica Landis. Gianna is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where she is a member of the Key Club and Wheeling Park Players. She also serves as a REAP counsel, Freshman Mentor, President as PAWS for a Cause and Student Ambassador. She is also a member of The Experience Church and volunteers for Catholic Charities. She worked as a sales assistant at Buckle. Gianna plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine.

– Harper Suzann Moores of Wheeling is the daughter of Dr. Paige Stoehr and Dr. W. Todd Moores. Harper is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. She is also a member of the Key Club, Drug Free Clubs of America and tennis team. She serves as a REAP counselor, Freshman Mentor and Captain and member of the soccer team. She volunteers for the Brooke County Animal Shelter and the Millie Mulhern Tennis Clinic. She worked at Elle & Jack’s, Sarah’s on Main and Wheeling Veterinary Associates. Harper plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Animal Sciences.

– Reese Ann Moores of Wheeling is the daughter of Dr. Paige Stoehr and Dr. W. Todd Moores. Reese is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where she is a member of Student Council and the Key Club. She is also a member of the soccer and tennis teams. She worked for Wheeling Veterinary Associates. Reese plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.

– Olivia Ann Pangilinan Rosenthal of Wheeling is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Rosenthal. Olivia is a senior at The Linsly School, where she serves as a prefect and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Learn Committee. She is also a member of the cross-country and tennis teams. She was chosen as the Wheeling Elks Student of the Month and is a National Merit Semi-Finalist. She worked as an assistant tennis coach and at Jimmy John’s. Olivia plans to attend college and major in Accounting or Economics.

– Katerina Sophia Spanos of Wheeling is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Spanos. Katerina is a senior at The Linsly School, where she serves as a prefect and is a member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. She is also a member and Captain of the volleyball team, and a member of the track team, Spanish Club, and Multicultural Club. She is also a member of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church where she is a member of Greek Orthodox Youth of America. She is also a member of the Agape Greek Dance Group, Ohio Valley Volleyball Company and a volunteer for Oglebay Good Zoo. Katerina plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh and major in Business.

– Elle Katherine Terek of Wheeling is the daughter of Mr. Michael Terek and Ms. Christina Terek. She is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society and Quill and Scroll International Society for High School Journalists. She serves as a Freshman Mentor and Park Press Photo and Media Manager. She is a four-year member of the varsity cheer team and is a member of St. Michael Parish. Elle plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Pre-Law.

– Victoria Grace Walsh of Glen Dale is the daughter of Mr. Jan Knight and Mrs. Lyndsay Sullivan Knight. Victoria is a senior at The Linsly School, where she serves as a prefect and a member of the National Honor Society, Latin Honor Society, Classics Club and secretary of the West Virginia Junior Classical League. She is Captain of varsity cheerleading and cheered in the 2021 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and she acted in several school theater productions. She volunteers for Kitty Komrades Cat Shelter. She worked for Glen Dale Pool and as a coach at the ICE Allstars. Victoria plans to attend college and major in Pre-Med with a focus on Chemistry.

– Avah Ruby Young of Triadelphia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Travis Young. Avah is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where she is a member of the marching, jazz, concert and steel bands. She is also a member of the Wheeling Symphony Youth Orchestra. Avah plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Music Education.

The young men chosen for the 2025 Cotillion are:

– Jackson Jeremiah Bond of McMechen is the son of Mr. Julian Bond and Ms. Erin Gallagher Bond. Jackson is a senior at The Linsly School, where he serves as a prefect and as a member of the National Honor Society, lacrosse team, band and JV basketball. He serves as a volunteer for The Glen Dale United Methodist Church in the audio/visual ministry and a workshop leader and member of the 707 Youth Group. He worked as a car detailer at Straub Automotive. Jackson plans to attend college and major in Civil Engineering with a goal of becoming an architect.

– Patrick John Christ of Wheeling is the son of Mr. Kevin Christ and Ms. Tracy Christ. Patrick is a senior at The Linsly School, where he serves as a member of the German Club, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the varsity football and baseball teams. He is also an Eagle Scout and is the owner of a landscape company managing 25 customers. He volunteers for church activities, House of the Carpenter homeless shelter and is a member of the Boy Scouts. Patrick plans to attend The Ohio State University and major in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Automotive Industries.

– Vaughn Duane Crile of Washington, Pennsylvania, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Crile. Vaughn is a senior at The Linsly School, where he is a member of the German Club. He is a 2024 Gold Medalist in the WV State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Meet, a solo endorsed student pilot and a team winner of the H2H Hill Raiser 12th Endurance Race. He also attends Lighthouse Community Church Youth Group and is a student pilot with Cloud 9 Aviation. He worked as a line service technician with Skyward Aviation. Vaughn plans to finish his flight training to become a professional bush pilot.

– Caleb Joshua Dodd of Wheeling is the son of Pastor and Mrs. Ted Dodd. Caleb is a senior at The Linsly School, where he is a member of Robotics Club, and the bowling, track and field, and speech and debate teams. He volunteers for Christ Community Church. Caleb plans to attend college with a major in Engineering.

– Kaleb James Gardill of Wheeling is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Gardill. Kaleb is a senior at The Linsly School, where he is a member of the Model UN, track and bowling teams, SADD, and the WV Ridge Riders team. He is also a WV NICA 7 year senior. He volunteers at the Grand Vue Park trail and Night to Shine. Kaleb plans to attend college and major in Environmental Natural Resources to pursue a career with the National Park Service.

– Clayton Michael Howard of Moundsville is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Howard. Clayton is a senior at John Marshall High School, where he is a member of the football, track and archery teams, and of the chamber orchestra. He was selected as a member of the West Virginia All State Orchestra and played in the Wheeling Youth Symphony Orchestra. He volunteers for the Marshall County Senior Center and at Night to Shine. Clayton plans to attend college to become a dental hygienist.

– Luke Everett Miller of Bridgeport, Ohio, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ty Miller. Luke is a senior at Central Catholic High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society and Drug-Free Clubs of America. He volunteers at the Soup Kitchen, St. Michael’s Parish, Catholic Charities and Wheeling Hospital’s Pediatrics Department. He worked for Wheeling Park. Luke plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Biochemistry and plans to become a pediatrician.

– Rhys Edison Poole of Wheeling is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Keith Poole. Rhys is a senior at The Linsly School, where he is a member of the cross country, bowling and track teams and the Art Club. He volunteers at the Good Zoo. He worked for The Linsly School’s summer camp as an arts and crafts teacher. Rhys plans to attend college and major in Art Education.

– Maxwell James Seibert of Wheeling is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Justin Seibert. Maxwell is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where he is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Drug Free Clubs of American and varsity soccer team. He serves as a Freshman Mentor, Student Ambassador, REAP counselor, Miracle League counselor, and soccer summer camp counselor. He was named an all OVAC soccer player. He worked for the Highlands Sports Complex. Maxwell plans to attend Clemson University and major in Applied Statistics.

– Luke Michael Tiu of Wheeling is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jeremy Tiu. Luke is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, where he serves as President of the Science National Honor Society, President of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Captain of Math Field Day Team, President of the tutoring program and President and founder of the GUTS Club. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the golf and baseball teams, and he is a National Merit Commended Scholar. He is also an American Legion Mountaineer Boys’ State Representative and Wheeling Elks Lodge Athlete of the Month. He is a member and volunteer for St. Michael’s Parish and volunteers for Catholic Charities. He worked for Chef n Company, Tiu ENT and as a landscaping manager. Luke plans to attend college and major in Economics or Political Science to pursue a legal career.
