Laughlin Memorial Chapel Appoints New Director
WHEELING – Laughlin Memorial Chapel, an active community center with programs designed for young people, is pleased to announce Tessa Weisenborn as its new executive director.
Board President Anthony Edmond expressed enthusiasm about the appointment.
“Tessa has the perfect blend of educational and practical experience,” he said. “She is great at working with children and will also ensure that the Chapel achieves its programming and development goals. Above all, she is fully committed to the mission of Laughlin Chapel to be a beacon of light for the children in our community.”
Weisenborn is a former educator who helped her students achieve testing scores that surpassed anticipated goals. She also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Fayetteville State University and has authored grants and helped secure over $800,000 in funding for her clients. She volunteers with the Friends of the Ohio County Public Library and the Junior League of Wheeling.
In her new role, Weisenborn will oversee efforts to increase awareness regarding services of the Chapel, to offer dynamic services based on community needs. She will steward the historic Chapel, its 15 staff members and various volunteers, and the students and family it serves.
Weisenborn said she looks forward to maintaining and celebrating the 150 year legacy of the work of Laughlin Memorial Chapel.
“Being a part of this mission and this community is a tremendous honor,” she said. “I have heard many speak fondly of their time as a ‘Chapel kid,’ and I want to work with our team to keep creating memories like that.”
