WHEELING — Mark your calendars! Record Store Day returns on Saturday, April 18, and Nail City Record in Wheeling is gearing up for the big event for 2026.
Doors open at 10 a.m., but if past years are any indication, expect music lovers lining up well before then.
Nail City Record is located at 40-12th St., Suite 300, on the third floor of the McClain Building in the heart of Wheeling.
This year’s Record Store Day exclusive releases include highly anticipated titles from Taylor Swift, Robert Plant, George Harrison, Bruno Mars, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Strings, Fall Out Boy, Tyler Childers, Olivia Dean, Paramore, Caamp, Ethel Cain, Megadeth, Bring Me The Horizon, Waylon Jennings, John Prine, Pink Floyd, Jeff Buckley, Grateful Dead, Look Outside Your Window, and many more.
Jon and Molly Napier, owners of Nail City Record — the area’s top independent record store destination located in downtown Wheeling, have been busy preparing for this year’s vinyl extravaganza.
“We’ve gone heavy on the most sought-after titles and ordered deep across the list to bring in as much as possible for the day,” said Jon Napier.
Bruno Mars, this year’s Record Store Day Ambassador, is celebrating with a special duets release for RSD.
“We’ll also have exclusive merch tied to his latest album available as part of our giveaways throughout the day,” said Molly Napier.
Beyond the exclusive releases, here’s what’s happening at the shop:
Limited Edition Merch
“We’re proud to share our 2026 Record Store Day poster, Stereophonic Wheeling, designed by Ernest Houk — AKA Leftie Smudges,” Jon Napier said.
A tribute to Nail City Record’s iconic 1959 Wurlitzer 2300S and the magnetic pull of Record Store Day, the design depicts the first high-capacity stereo jukebox adrift in the Ohio River, blending the industrial soul of Wheeling with the tactile rush of a fresh stack of wax.
Printed by Upright Press in Columbus, these 18×24 screen-printed posters will be available in a limited run of 50, including 10 foil editions.
“We’ll also have matching stickers available exclusively on Record Store Day,” Molly Napier said. “In addition, we’re bringing back a fan-favorite T-shirt design in new colorways for the occasion.”
Goodie Bags & Giveaways
“We’ll have goodie bags stacked with merch for attendees, including posters, pins, slipmats and more,” Jon Napier said. “We’ve also partnered again with the Capitol Theatre to offer multiple concert ticket giveaways, and concession gift cards. Stop in on Record Store Day to enter.”
Massive Pre-Owned Vinyl Drop
Nail City Record will be rolling out a huge selection of pre-owned records, including plenty of bargain finds and fresh stock hitting the floor just in time for the event.
Early Line Perks
The store will have free coffee and donuts available for those waiting in line — Nail City Record’s way of saying “thanks for showing up early and making the day what it is.”
“We love bringing Record Store Day to our customers,” Molly Napier said. “People drive from far and wide to be a part of the day with us. It’s an incredible day for music lovers and a chance to connect with the community. Every year it grows into something even more special, the same faces, new faces, everyone coming together and sharing that excitement. That sense of camaraderie is what makes it all worth it for us.”
Record Store Day has grown into the biggest day of the year for independent record stores and music lovers alike.
“For us, it’s about more than just the records,” Jon Napier said. “It’s about creating a space where people can come together, celebrate music and be part of something special. We hope to see you on Saturday, April 18.”
