Julian to Speak Before Collegiate Alumnae of Wheeling

WHEELING – Collegiate Alumnae of Wheeling’s final spring 2026 meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Christ United Methodist Church.

The guest speaker is Dr. Charles A. Julian, PhD, Wheeling native and historian, presenting, “Compelling Local Narratives … Who Me?”

Julian earned degrees from Glenville State College, University of Sheffield (England) on a Rotary International Fellowship, George Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt University and the Florida State University. Within the field of library and information science, he taught undergraduate classes, worked in library administration, headed library departments, wrote grants and proposals, and directed intellectual property efforts. Julian retired after 42 years as a library/information professional.

Meetings resume in October 2026 after a summer hiatus.

The Wheeling-based non-profit Collegiate Alumnae of Wheeling has encouraged and assisted young West Virginia women to attend college since the organization’s founding in 1908. CAW offers scholarships annually for women attending West Liberty University and West Virginia Northern Community College based on financial need and academic eligibility. CAW is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Reminder that Collegiate Alumnae of Wheeling meets five times per year at 11:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of March, April, October, November and December primarily in the Fellowship Hall of Christ United Methodist Church on Washington Avenue. Meetings consist of lunch ($15), a business meeting and an educational yet entertaining program. Women are welcome to attend a meeting and join the club for lunch. Reservations are required.
