WHEELING – The Woman’s Club of Wheeling will meet on Friday, April 10, at Monument Place in Wheeling.

The general meeting will begin at 1 p.m. with President Vicki Jo Smith presiding. Lunch is provided at noon for $9. New members are welcomed throughout the year. Current membership is 125 members, and the club is the largest in the state. A Remembrance Ceremony will be presented by the Health and Wellness Community Service Program Committee to recognize and honor seven deceased members. Club members will participate by sharing memories and tributes for these ladies who graciously supported and volunteered on behalf of the club. The election of the 2026-28 officers and committee chairwomen will be voted on by the members, and President Smith will report on the State of Affairs of the Woman’s Club of Wheeling by announcing the accomplishments and statistics of the current administration. The new administration will continue to work to help others through volunteer service benefiting the community.

After the April 10 meeting, comedienne Michelle Krajecki will perform. Born and raised in Chicago and deciding she was not the starving artist type, she taught special education before staying home with her kids. After performing some comedy roles and the encouragement from family and friends, she decided to pursue a career in comedy. After realizing her dream, she graduated from The Second City Training Center in Chicago. Afterward, she felt compelled to strike out on her own and perform stand-up comedy. Krajecki said she believes most comedy comes from imperfect people living in an imperfect world.

“You can’t control life, but you can control your reaction to it,” she said.

In March, several members attended the GFWC WV State Convention at the Greenbrier Resort. Awards were presented to club committees and individuals recognizing their volunteer accomplishments. President Smith commended the ladies who completed state reports to highlight their volunteer service and certificates were announced and given out at the March 27 meeting.

On Friday, April 17 an Inaugural Luncheon will be held at Monument Place at noon to install the 2026-28 officers and committee chairwomen. Special guest, Terri Diamond, newly elected GFWC WV State president, will install the new officers.

After the installation ceremony, Lee Dean, tribute singer, will perform. Dean is a husband, dad and minister. His life goal is to use the skills God has blessed him with to spread cheer, joy and love through music. After joining “Murder Mystery Dinner Theater Company in 2016, it had led him to branch out and create various entertainment streams which include Tribute Shows to Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and others.

The GFWC WV Northern District Federation will be holding a Spring Workshop on April 25 hosted by The Woman’s Club of Wheeling at Christ United Methodist Church in Wheeling. Five northern panhandle women’s club members are part of the Northern District. Jeanne Amidon is the newly elected GFWC WV Northern District President.
