WHEELING – The Ohio County Public Library’s next Lunch With Books program will feature a celebration of Route 66 with the Victor Samalot Duo.

The program will take place at noon on June 2 at the library in downtown Wheeling.

Get your kicks through essential road music, visuals and backstories of one of America’s most iconic highways. Learn the rich history, cultural impact, the kitschy cool nostalgia and must do travel tips along the way!

Part of America 250, the Victor Samalot Duo is visiting select Ohio (and at least one West Virginia) libraries all year — come experience the journey and maybe plan your own road trip. The duo is comprised of guitarist Victor Samalot and multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Bobbi Holt, blending original music, covers and improvisations, including instrumentals and classic vocal favorites with a Latin twist.

Born in the Bronx, New York, NY, Samalot is a 30 year veteran guitarist from Cleveland who draws on his Latin roots fusing timeless Latin groove with jazz stylings topped with a rock edge that appeals to listeners of world fusion music. Imagine a jam session with the likes of Carlos Santana, Wes Montgomery and Jeff Beck. Fresh and contemporary, Victor’s musical adventure keeps him quite busy performing and in the studio. His influences include Ottmar Liebert, Craig Chaquico, Jesse Cook, Phil Keaggy Jose Feliciano and David Gilmour.

Joining him on stage is the multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Bobbi Holt. Together the Victor Samalot Duo’s sets blend original music, covers and improvisations, including instrumentals and classic vocal favorites with a Latin twist.

Holt said she is thrilled to be returning to the stage with her long-time collaborator, adding bass guitar and vocal abilities to Samalot’s already organic rhythmic vibe. Holt’s prior projects include producing ambient world music under the name Mind Lab Music, providing bass tracks to Samalot’s solo recordings and was co-founder of the jazz rock fusion group Rare Blend as songwriter and keyboardist.
