A Towngate Cabaret – 7 p.m. Saturday at Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre & Cinema. Local performers will sing popular musical theater hits during the annual cabaret fundraiser benefiting Friends of Towngate. A social hour with hors d’oeuvres, drinks and desserts begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30.

Live Music at Centre Market – Noon-2 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 26 at Centre Market. Enjoy free lunchtime performances from local musicians in the courtyard between the market houses during the weekly summer concert series.

Modest Mouse Album Listening Party – 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Nail City Record. Hear Modest Mouse’s new album, “An Eraser and a Maze,” before its official release during this special indie record store event featuring giveaways and prizes.

Concert at Wheeling Island – 8 p.m. Saturday at Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 21-and-over show in The Showroom. General admission tickets are $25.

Saturday Science Demonstrations – 1 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 26 at SMART Centre Market. Free science demonstrations open to all ages and the public will be held weekly at SMART Centre Market.

Clay Lantern Workshop – 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Oglebay Institute’s Stifel Fine Arts Center. Participants will learn hand-building techniques to create decorative clay lanterns during this artist-led workshop. Cost is $50 for nonmembers and $45 for Oglebay Institute members.

WV Miners Football – 7 p.m. Saturday at WesBanco Arena. The West Virginia Miners will take the field Saturday night in downtown Wheeling. Tickets are available online and at the box office.

FAMILY

Family Story Time – 11 a.m. Saturdays through Dec. 26 at Ohio County Public Library. Families and children of all ages are invited to enjoy stories, songs and crafts during this interactive 30-minute program in the library’s Children’s Area. Free admission.

Fairy Garden Opening – 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Kruger Street Toy & Train Museum. Children can welcome back the fairies with wings, tutus, flower planting, fairy dust and more during this special event. Admission is $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional child.

Sunday, May 31

Flashback Cinema – Sundays and Wednesdays through Dec. 27 at Marquee Cinemas. Classic films return to the big screen with matinee and evening showings during the ongoing Flashback Cinema series.

Sunday Evening Concerts – 7 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 6 at Oglebay Park Resort. Free outdoor concerts featuring live music, children’s activities, concessions and an ice cream sundae bar will be held weekly at the Oglebay amphitheater through Labor Day.
