David P. Ervin

WHEELING – On Saturday, June 13, at 10 a.m., the Fort Henry Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, will hold its summer quarter meeting in the auditorium of the Ohio County Public Library, 52-16th St., Wheeling.

Guest speaker David P. Ervin, of Morgantown will give a presentation, “Raised Toward the Westward: The 13th Regiment of the Continental Line.” One of six regiments raised by an act of Congress in 1776, the 13th was comprised of a battalion of three companies in West Augusta including Monongalia, Yohogania and Ohio Counties.

Ervin is an infantry veteran of the Iraq War who went on to study at West Virginia University, earning a BA in early American history. He has written a war memoir and numerous other works in creative nonfiction, historical scholarship and fiction. He has also served as an editor for various publications.
