SATURDAYS AT THE MARKET CONTINUE AT CENTRE MARKET — Centre Market will continue its “Saturdays at the Market” concert series from noon to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 26. The free event features live lunchtime music in the market courtyard and is sponsored by the City of Wheeling and community partners.

SUNSET SATURDAYS OFFER LIVE MUSIC AT OGLEBAY — Oglebay Park Resort’s Lakeview Cantina will host “Sunset Saturdays” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 31. The series features live music, food and drinks with patio views.

JAMBOREE CITY FEST TO FEATURE LOCAL MUSIC — Jamboree City Fest will be held Saturday in downtown Wheeling, featuring more than 20 local artists and bands performing at seven venues. Admission is free.

WEST VIRGINIA DAY CELEBRATION SET AT INDEPENDENCE HALL — A West Virginia Day celebration will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at WV Independence Hall in Wheeling. The free event will include historical presentations, Civil War displays, music, refreshments and activities commemorating the state’s birthday.

INTERPRETIVE SIGN DEDICATION AND PYTHIAN TOUR PLANNED — A dedication ceremony for a new interpretive sign honoring Wheeling’s historic African American neighborhood will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by a guided tour of the historic Pythian Building at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

FOOD & DRINK

STARS, STRIPES & SIZZLE COOKING DEMOS CONTINUE — Oglebay Park Resort’s Skyline Kitchen & Bar will continue its “Stars, Stripes & Sizzle” cooking demonstrations at 3 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 5. The weekly event features chef-led demonstrations highlighting seasonal and all-American dishes.

WHEELING MINERS TO HOST MISSISSIPPI WOLFPACK — The Wheeling Miners will play the Mississippi Wolfpack at 7 p.m. Saturday at WesBanco Arena. Tickets are available through the arena box office and the team’s website.

ARTS & MUSIC

PLEIN AIR ART EXPERIENCE INVITES ARTISTS AND VISITORS — A citywide plein air painting event will take place Saturday at locations throughout Wheeling, including Heritage Port, Centre Market, Wheeling Park and Oglebay. Completed works will be eligible for a juried exhibition and awards, and the public is encouraged to watch artists paint throughout the day.

COMMUNITY

JUNETEENTH R&B BRUNCH PLANNED AT ARTISAN CENTER — A Juneteenth R&B Brunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wheeling Artisan Center. The event will feature a catered buffet, music, games and prizes, with tickets priced at $25.

FLASHBACK CINEMA SERIES CONTINUES — Marquee Cinemas in Triadelphia will continue its “Flashback Cinema” series Sundays and Wednesdays through Dec. 27, featuring classic films on the big screen with matinee and evening showings.

SUNDAY FUNDAY CONCERT SERIES RETURNS TO OGLEBAY — Oglebay Park Resort will host free Sunday evening concerts through Sept. 6. Music begins at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater and the event also includes children’s activities, concessions and an ice cream sundae bar.

ALL-AMERICAN BBQ SUNDAYS OFFER WEEKLY DINING EVENT — Oglebay Park Resort’s Skyline Kitchen & Bar will continue its “All-American BBQ Sundays” dining feature from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 6, featuring ribs and classic barbecue side dishes.
