WHEELING - The Hospitality Committee of The Woman's Club of Wheeling is preparing for the upcoming Membership Tea to be held at noon on Friday, Sept. 18, at 1 Monument Place, Osiris Shrine Temple in Elm Grove.

This is an important event held yearly to welcome back the current members and to initiate new members. The 16 committee members met in June and will meet again in July to make plans for the menu, assign necessary duties for preparing desserts and sandwiches, and plan for setup arrangements at the Shrine. This year the club is reaching out to women from our local communities to attend the tea and consider it as a "Meet and Greet" opportunity to learn about the club and what the members do. There is no charge to attend, and any woman interested in finding out about the club is welcome to contact membership chairperson Lexie Hanket at 304-845-0078 to make a reservation.

The group is a volunteer service organization affiliated with the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) and the GFWC West Virginia Federation. Clubwomen transform lives each day, not just with monetary donations, but with hands-on tangible projects that can provide immediate impact. The club offers a meaningful experience of helping others, gaining a true meaning of giving and offering gratification of belonging to an international organization.

Anyone interested in becoming a member can contact the membership chairman. There is no charge for attending the tea, but a reservation must be made by calling Hanket by Sept. 3 or call now to become a member in order to be initiated at the tea.

The yearly cost for membership is $50. Membership is open throughout the year, and President Linda Snodgrass welcomes interested women to consider becoming a member enjoying fellowship and good food, making new friends and having a purpose of helping others. The general meetings are held two times monthly on Fridays at 1 p.m. during the months of October to December and again in February to April. After the meetings, the members are provided with entertainment that includes musical groups and a variety of speakers.

The following programs are scheduled for 2026-27:
