WHEELING - The speaker at the Tuesday, Aug. 11, meeting of the Ohio County Master Gardeners will be Takako Sachse.
She will be demonstrating Ikebana, the classic Japanese art of flower arranging. The meeting will be held 6:30 p.m., at Vance Memorial Church, 905 National Road.
Takako Sachse is a certified instructor of Sogetsu Ikebana School, and has been a long-time member of Sogetsu Pittsburgh where Reiko Nakajima and Atsumi Sewell are principal instructors who conduct the study group.
Currently a major project is exhibited at Carnegie Museum of Art where you are greeted by magnificent bamboo installations that were designed and directed by Ken Katayama, a master instructor of Sogetsu Headquarter, Tokyo, Japan.
Sogetsu Pittsburgh offers a monthly study class in Pittsburgh and shares its activities on Instagram.
