MOUNDSVILLE - It's time to register for children's acting classes at the Strand Theatre in Moundsville.
Classes will begin on Sept. 26 and will conclude on Oct. 31. Based upon their age, each participant will choose from one of two levels. Level 1 (Kindergarten through grade 3) will meet from 9-9:55 a.m. and Level 2 (grades 4-8) will meet from 10-10:55 a.m.
Tuition for participation in six-week class series is $75. All classes will be held at the theatre. Through exciting theater games, storytelling, creative movement, improvisation and scene work, students will build confidence, spark their imaginations, and develop stage presence in a fun, encouraging environment.
Along the way, they'll learn how to create memorable characters, work as a team and express themselves with confidence. At the end of the session, students will perform a short play for family and friends.
Michael Brambila will be the instructor. Brambila - known as Mr. B - is the Youth Outreach Specialist at the Ohio County Public Library. He earned his degree in Musical Theatre from California State University, Chico, where he performed in numerous musicals and stage productions.
After college, Brambila moved to New York City to study improvisation at The People's Improv Theater (The PIT), Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) and Magnet Theater. He also had the opportunity to direct children's theatre for the Tulare School District, introducing many young students to the magic of theater for the very first time.
Today, he continues to perform and study improv at Arcade Comedy Theater in Pittsburgh while visiting schools throughout the Ohio Valley, inspiring students through the joy of reading, creativity and storytelling.
Brambila said he is excited to help students build confidence in themselves, discover their unique voices and experience the fun and excitement of acting and performance in a supportive and encouraging environment.
