Artworks September Exhibit Features Works by Printmaker Sarah Bogdal

WHEELING - Artworks is pleased to participate in Oglebay Institute's New Appalachia 2026 exhibit during the month of September.
A Visiting artist participating in this event will be skilled printmaker Sarah Bogdal. A free Opening Reception will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, and everyone is welcome to attend.
New Appalachia celebrates the evolution of traditional Appalachian crafts into modern artistic expression. There will be various venues participating in the exhibit. Ceramics, fiber arts, furniture, metal work, printmaking and wood crafts will be represented in this year's show. Every guest will be given a passport to be stamped at each site and at the end of the evening there will be a drawing for a gift basket.
Bogdal lives and works in Nashville, Tennessee. She makes linoleum block prints that are inspired by books, music, podcasts or in her words "whatever rabbit hole she's most recently fallen into."
Bogdal earned her bachelor of fine arts degree from Watkins College of Art in 2018 and has since exhibited her work in 16 states. She teaches workshops to inspire others to learn the art.
"Every linoleum block is a visual puzzle of light, texture and space," she said, noting that h er goal is for each print to "lie just shy of disorienting - visually dense enough to require a second look, rewarding those who let themselves linger."
Artworks Around Town is a non profit fine art and educational center serving the citizens of the area. Located in Wheeling's Historic Centre Market, hours are 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. six days a week, Monday through Saturday.
