WEST LIBERTY -- West Liberty University's Department of Music & Theatre will welcome accomplished musicians to the Hilltop this fall as the WLU Concert Series returns for the 2026-27 academic year.
The fall series will feature three performances beginning Sept. 10 with flutist Lindsey Goodman, followed by pianist Ayham Hammour on Sept. 17 and the Monongahela Saxophone Quartet on Oct. 4. All three performances are free and open to the public.
"We are very excited to bring back the WLU Concert Series," said Dr. Matthew Harder, chair of the Department of Music & Theatre. "It began in 1964 and has brought world-class musicians and performers to the Hilltop for free concerts throughout the year. Thanks to generous support from Day & Night Heating and Cooling products, the WLU Foundation, and the College of Liberal & Creative Arts, we can once again provide these experiences for the campus community."
Harder added, "The fall features a flutist, pianist, and saxophone quartet, and the spring will feature WLU faculty recitals, Bluegrass, WLU alums, and musicians from the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra."
The fall schedule includes:
– Lindsey Goodman, Flute Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. Elbin Auditorium
Goodman will open the series with a performance featuring works for flute and electronics by living American composers. She has been recognized for her work in contemporary flute music and innovative programming.
– Ayham Hammour, Piano Thursday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. Interfaith Chapel
A native of Damascus, Hammour earned his master's degree with honorable mention from the Academy of Music in Krakow, Poland, and a Ph.D. from the
