‘Wicked’ Flies Back Into Benedum Center

Mary Kate Morrissey as Elphaba and Ginna Claire Mason as Glinda in “Wicked.”

“Wicked,” the Broadway sensation that looks at what happened in the Land of Oz from a different angle, will be on stage Jan. 25 through Feb. 11 at the Bendum Center in Pittsburgh.

Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin–smart, fiery, misunderstood and possessing an extraordinary talent.

When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships, until the world decides to call one “good” and the other one “wicked.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, “Wicked”–the untold true story of the Witches of Oz–transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story that USA Today cheers is “a complete triumph! An original musical that will make you laugh, cry and think.”

An autism-friendly performance of “Wicked” is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3. This performance will provide a friendly and supportive environment for the audience. Slight adjustments to the production will be implemented, including the reduction of any jarring sounds or strobe lights focused into the audience. In addition, the Benedum Center lobby will offer quiet spaces and activity areas for families while trained staff and volunteers provide encouragement and assistance to patrons.
