Ernest Hemingway Featured at Next Lunch With Books

WHEELING — The Ohio County Public Library’s next Lunch With Books Live Stream event will welcome Dr. Verna Kale, who will explore the life and works of Ernest Hemingway.

The event will take place at noon on Tuesday, April 6, virtually online.

Hemingway is one of the most famous and yet misunderstood figures in American literature. On Monday, April 5, PBS will premier the first installment in its new three-part, six-hour film series exploring the life and work of the legendary writer. Directed by award-winning filmmakers Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, the series will feature voice actors Jeff Daniels as Hemingway; along with Meryl Streep, Keri Russell, Mary Louise Parker and Patricia Clarkson as Hemingway’s four wives.

The day after the premier of the series, LWB Livestream will feature Kale, a Hemingway scholar from Penn State University who was interviewed for the documentary, to further discuss the film and Hemingway’s literary legacy. She is the author of “Ernest Hemingway” (Reaktion Books 2016).
