Wheeling Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors Presents Shake, Raffle & Roll Fundraiser Saturday

WHEELING — The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra board of directors will present Shake, Raffle & Roll — a reverse raffle fundraiser supporting the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra. The event will be held at The Highlands Event Center at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 1.

The evening will feature a $5,000 grand prize, additional cash and other prizes, heavy hors d’ouevres and desserts and a cash bar. Social-distancing rules will be observed.

This unique evening of cash and other prizes, food, drink and comradery will all be done to support the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.

Though the Wheeling Symphony has had virtual, televised and streamed concerts during the past year, Shake, Raffle & Roll is the board of directors’ first major fundraising event since the onset of the pandemic in March of 2020. The reverse raffle event will be held at the Highlands Event Center, but those who are more comfortable at home will be able to join the event via a Zoom link.

“We thought a reverse raffle would be a fun way to reignite our fundraising,” Vicky Musicaro, event cochair, said. “Now that more and more people have been vaccinated, the timing was right to try an in-person event,” she noted. “Of course, social distancing will be in effect, as well as mask wearing. Those who aren’t ready to venture out can watch the festivities via a Zoom link.”

Tickets to the May 1 event are $100, which entitles the purchaser to a chance for the $5,000 grand prize. Additional guests may accompany the ticket buyer for $10 per person. Members of the Wheeling Symphony Auxiliary will provide heavy appetizers and desserts for the event, and patrons will have access to a cash bar.

“There will be lots of prizes and surprises through the evening,” WSO board member Jean Bailey, who has helped plan the event, said. “We can’t guarantee that your ticket will be the $5,000 winner but we can guarantee that you will have a great time at Shake, Raffle & Roll. We look forward to decorating with a 1950s theme, and guests can certainly embrace the decade with their attire.”

WSO Board President Roanne Burech expressed gratitude for the community’s support of the orchestra during the pandemic, noting, “The last year has been challenging for the orchestra, but the support of our community has uplifted all of us.”

Sponsors for Shake, Raffle & Roll are Harvey Goodman Realtor, Harold and Roanne Burech; Colin P. McNickle and Dr. Leah Jones; Phillip D High, DDS Oral Surgery; Family Dentistry; National Road Utility Supply, Inc.; Just Smiles by Joy L. Harr, DDS; Don and Beth Ann Dague; Dr. Dennis and Donna Niess; Dr. Kenneth and Robin Dunbar; Kim and Holly McCluskey; Paul and Terry Camilletti.

Tickets can be purchased from any Wheeling Symphony Board Member or can be purchased by phone at 304-232-6191, via email at boxoffice@wheelingsymphony.com, or in person at the box office, located at 1025 Main St., Suite 811, Wheeling.
