OUE Art Gallery to Feature Rebecca Kiger Exhibition

ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Ohio University Eastern Art Gallery will feature an exhibition of Photography by Rebecca Kiger beginning on Aug. 23 with an opening reception at 7 p.m. on Sept. 2 at the Ohio University Eastern Art Gallery.

The exhibition will feature "Out in the Cold" Photograph Collection depicting scenes featuring the unhoused community. Kiger's photographs have been featured in Time magazine, the New York Times, and still shots have been used in Netflix films.

The Kiger exhibit tells a story, exposing valuable moments of human interaction, capturing the often-untold aspects of the homeless.

The exhibit will evoke deep emotions, awaken viewers' compassion, bringing forth a poignancy that will raise awareness.

"The human challenges of homelessness are visible and pressing," said Dr. David Rohall, dean of Ohio University Eastern. "The Kiger photography exhibit is a testament to the impact and importance of housing as being a critical tool in an individual's path toward proper health, safety and stability. This exhibition is an opportunity for Ohio Eastern to share with our community the voice and faces of those who lived through homelessness."

This gallery exhibit is unique as it serves as a fundraiser for local homeless-related causes. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Donations are encouraged. Contributions will be accepted in a collection box located in the Art Gallery. All proceeds will be divided equally among participating local homeless-service agencies at the end of the exhibit.

The exhibition runs through Sept. 16. The Ohio University Eastern Art Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
