WHEELING -- Oglebay's second annual Backyard BBQ Festival presented by The Glessner Group will bring triple platinum-selling music group Collective Soul along with special guests The Clarks to the park this Saturday night, May 27.
Oglebay's Backyard BBQ Festival will take place all weekend, today through Sunday, with live music, food and much more for everyone over the long holiday weekend.
The festival at Oglebay's Levenson Shelter and Camp Russel is open to the public and will include a variety of food, beer, bourbon, live music and some of the best BBQ from around the country.

Prices for tickets start at $60.
"We had so much fun last year, we wanted to do it again this year! The Backyard Barbeque Festival is fast becoming a signature summer event for the entire family," Bob Peckenpaugh, Wheeling Park Commission President and CEO said. "Thanks once again to the generous sponsorship from The Glessner Group, we will be able to bring exceptional entertainment to the park."
Last year's inaugural Back Yard BBQ was a great success and featured music by headlining band The Gin Blossoms. This year promises to be bigger and even better.
"This is a great way to kick off the summer in the valley!" said Gary W. Glessner, president of The Glessner Group. "It is going to be a lot of fun and we are certainly looking forward to it."
Collective Soul rose to widespread popularity in the mid-1990s with an assortment of No. 1 charting radio hits like "December," "Shine," "The World I Know," "Where the River Flows," "Heavy," "Listen" and "Precious Declaration."
The band has continued to tour, write new music and record albums, with the latest album "Vibrating" released just last August.
"I think we're on a roll," said Ed Roland, the band's frontman and chief songwriter. "We're not afraid to stretch the boundaries, but we do know how to stay in our lane when we need to. Sometimes, though, we just have to go faster."
Seeing eye to eye -- and ear to ear -- is part of the secret sauce of why Collective Soul continues to both record and play together at an uncompromised level of high quality.
"That's the end goal for everybody in this band," Roland said. "Just because I write the songs doesn't mean I'm the only one who wants it all to come out right. We all want it to be right, and that's because this is a band that acts like a band."
Other activities on tap for Oglebay's Backyard BBQ weekend include barbeque and bourbon demos, "little piggies" kids' fun zone and more.
In addition to the featured musical act at Camp Russel where tickets will be required for admission, there will be a full slate of live music all weekend for free at Oglebay's Levenson Shelter during the festival.
