WHEELING -- After contestants cross the finish line on both days of the Ogden Newspapers Wellness Weekend presented by WVU Medicine, they, their families and their friends will have plenty of chances to keep the festivities rolling.
Music and other fun will be on tap during and after both the Ogden Newspapers Half Marathon Classic on Saturday, May 27, and the Tough As Nails Urban Challenge presented by the Health Plan on Sunday, May 28. A post-race party featuring live music will punctuate the celebration around Wheeling's waterfront area.
A pair of popular regional bands will entertain the crowds in a free concert on May 28, headlined by the Sun King Warriors, who will perform 1:30-3 p.m. that day. Among the band's members is Jim Donovan, formerly of Rusted Root. Donovan was one of the co-authors of Rusted Root's biggest hit, "Send Me On My Way," which people can still hear on the radio and in various advertisements. It also was used as the wake-up music for NASA's Mars rover.
The Sun King Warriors describe their music as "a blend of rhythm-heavy roots rock, with a strong dose of big barreling drums. Think bluesy Zeppelin-esque bombast, Santana-style percussion with wild Avett Brothers energy."
Following the Sun King Warriors from 3:30-5 p.m. will be the Delaneys, a Pittsburgh-based band that has entertained the tri-state area for more than 20 years with their high-energy act that blends original songs with top-40 favorites. The Delaneys have shared the stage with many national acts including Third Eye Blind, Smash Mouth, Everclear, Fuel, Candlebox, Sponge, Gin Blossoms and Bret Michaels.
On May 27, participants in the various races, along with everyone else downtown during the Wellness Weekend events that day, will be able to enjoy music from DJ Jan Jursa, who will be spinning tunes from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

There will be plenty to eat and drink downtown on both days as well. Food trucks will be on-site selling various cuisines, and a beer garden will be available. The bar will open at 7:30 a.m. May 27 and 10 a.m. May 28. Food and drinks can be found near WesBanco Arena near the waterfront.
"We want the Ogden Newspapers Wellness Weekend presented by WVU Medicine to be an event for the entire community and a way to welcome the summer season in the Ohio Valley," said Brian Clutter, operations director for the Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register. "We can't wait to invite the valley to enjoy not just some great races, but top-notch entertainment at our free concert as well."
