Artworks Keeps ‘The Sea,’ Prepares Ceramic Takeover

‘Dappled Rays’ acrylic painting by Laura Bitterly

WHEELING — The special exhibit “The Sea” will remain at Artworks Around Town until the middle of February. If you haven’t had an opportunity to stop and see it, don’t miss this show. All works are original and for sale.

A festive opening will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, for the Ceramic Takeover sponsored by Oglebay Institute. This event returns to the Gallery for another year. The reception will be from 5:30-8 p.m. in the evening and is free and all are invited to attend.

Artworks offers ongoing workshops as well as special ones throughout the year. Greg Siegwart teaches oil and acrylic painting on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for $15 per session. Janet Sheehan teaches watercolor classes time and place determined on sign up. Sandra Hadsell offers an open studio every Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. This is a free event without instruction and a great opportunity to paint with other artists.

Artworks Around town is a nonprofit art gallery dedicated to serving the public Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. in Wheeling’s Historic Centre Market.

Starting at $2.99/week.
